landowners harnessing natural resources staying green |
|||||
Wind is a natural resource which can be harnessed by landowners as a way of diversifying to increase income while supporting sustainable development. Wind projects typically use less than 1% of the land on a wind farm - the rest remaining available for agriculture. As a landowner you can share in the profits of a wind project - and the more the wind blows, the more electricity a wind turbine will make! But you can also start seeing benefits as soon as the wind turbines are commissioned. Construction and maintenance are designed to minimise disruption. Construction should take only a matter of months, and routine maintenance requires access for one van about four times a year. The turbines are monitored remotely at other times via an independent telephone line, so if anything does go wrong they can be shut down quickly and safely. If you think your land might be suitable for a wind project, or you would like to find out more, then contact us. |
